Is this a bad area for my ps3 slim in terms of ventilation, dust, etc?

Thinking of making the plunge
I have been keeping my eye on Ps3's for a while. I am thinking of making the plunge but need some advice. I am looking at the 80Gb refurbished BC emulator style for just under $300. Now should I get this or should I simply get a new 120Gb for $20 more? I heard mixed reviews on refurbished systems and this is coming from a major retailer and not some craigslist guy. So what do you guys think? I need advice and prefer the type with a logical rationale behind the advice. Also I hear a rumor that BC is coming down the pipeline later in a firmware update. I have seen stories from the middle of the year about Sony patenting a BC framework by altering the way the Cell processor inputs and outputs data to emulate the Emotion chip itself instead of modding a game to fit the Cell processor. If this is true, I wouldn't waste my time with this and just get a new slim model.

Where’s the portable torchlights in PS Home??
Hey all. You got to note, several of the mini-game spaces and personal apartments in Home are unusually DARK. As in nearly pitch black on my screen. This annoys the heck out of me, cause I always crank up the brightness to max if I'm playing say Fallout 3 or Batman Arkham Asylum. Maybe my tv screen can't differentiate the shadows enough. So where can I buy stuff like a flashlight or candles that my avatar can carry around? Do those yellow glowtubes or sparklers cast enough light to see anything, I'm looking for recommendations. Tell me if there's something like a portable light source.

2nd Ps3 Dies……YLOD this time.
Was playing CodMw2 online and my PS3 just shut off. Now when I press the power button it turns green for a split second and then yellow then powers down only leaving a flashing red light.
