PS3 and Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR6 = no 1080p ?

It may just be user error here since I am entirely unfamiliar with the PS3 but I can’t get my PS3 to work with my TV at 1080p. I know the screen is capable of it as well as the cable since I have been using the same TV and cable with my Xbox 360 for a long time. Can anyone shed some light on the situation? I can only seem to get 480p, 720p, and 1080i to work.
