Low player count?

So I don’t normally play my PS3 (more of a xbox guy) But I do play it alot when an exclusive comes around (IE uncharted 2) I was playing multiplayer from 1-6 pm west coast time and the player count never went higher then 5k. Is that normal for Playstation? on the 360 for a popular game the lowest I’ve seen (example Halo) would be around 100k. Does playstation have a low power count during the week and it picks up during the weekend or is this normal? Thanks
