Is poor soldering the main issue of YLOD?

It seems like it. Now YLOD can be general hardware failure but most of the time it is the soldering cracking or whatever that causes it. I’m not sure if the Slim has better soldering but it seems common with the older models. Also, can anyone with a Slim tell me if the soldering is much better is it just crap like the older PS3s.
