Controller Won’t Charge

Recently my PS3 controller stopped charging. When the battery died I figured it just got old and wouldnt hold a charge, so I bought a new battery and replaced it. The controller worked great, but again this new battery still will not charge. I know its not the USB cable, because it will still charge my phone. Has anyone else had this problem? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you!
