PS3 & Arris modem, can’t connect to internet

Hi.  I just bought my PS3 and I’m unable to connect to the internet at all.  I’m not using a router (for now), I’m going directly from my Arris cable modem to my PS3.  I’ve tried resetting my modem, and using a couple of different ethernet cables, but nothing seems to help.  I have everything enabled on my PS3, so that the internet should be working, but when I do the internet connection test, it fails and times out. 

 

What can I do to fix this?  I appreciate any help.
