Playstation 3 storage solutions ?

Hi,

 

I stupidly only bought the 40gig playstation, and am now in need of more storage room, i was google’n some info and came across this: Console Mods

Now i am hoping somone here has used this Sata to IDE conector as i am in need of advice.

 

- Firstly is this safe to use ? (my sony warranty has already run out anyway)

- Has anyone used this product ?

 

I have a 400gig IDE drive in an old pc i don’t use, do you think this will be ok to use with this Playstation 3 mod ?

 

Thanks in advance for any advice, really dont want to buy a new ps3 just for more storage.
